Houston Bachelorette Party Ideas (From the People Who Host Them Every Weekend)

Most Houston bachelorette plans end up at the same three Midtown bars because somebody in the group chat gave up at 11pm on a Tuesday. We host bachelorettes on the water most weekends from March to November, so we see what works, what gets cut for budget, and what the bride actually remembers. Here are twelve plans, honest about cost and effort, with ours at the top because it is our list.

1. A private BYOB boat on Clear Lake (2 hours, up to 26 people).

You get the whole barge, your playlist on the speakers, a bathroom on board, a licensed captain, and a cooler you packed yourself. Private charters run $800 to $950 depending on the day, which is $31 to $37 a head for a full boat and less than one round for 20 at a downtown bar. Sunset slots sell out first in October and April. Seabrook, 35 minutes from downtown, 15 minutes from Kemah Boardwalk. Book the boat, then build the rest of the day around it. 2. Kemah Boardwalk before or after the boat.

Rides, a Ferris wheel, waterfront patios, and enough margaritas within a quarter mile that nobody has to drive between stops. It pairs with the boat because it is a ten-minute drive. Things to do in Kemah besides the Boardwalk

3. Galveston for the day, Houston for the night.

Forty-five minutes from Clear Lake. Beach morning at East Beach, brunch on the Strand, back to the boat for sunset. It reads as two trips in one weekend without changing hotels.

4. A rooftop start downtown.

POST Houston’s Skylawn or a Market Square rooftop for the first drink and the first group photo while the makeup is fresh. Cheap, central, and the skyline does the work.

5. Dueling pianos in Midtown.

Howl at the Moon takes requests, puts the bride on stage, and runs late. It is the loud night. Do it the night before the boat, not the same day.

6. A dance class with your own routine.

DivaDance Houston runs private bachelorette classes with a custom routine to the bride’s song. One hour, a lot of laughing, usable video.

7. Drink-and-draw with a model.

The Artful Bachelorette runs a figure-drawing session with a live model and drinks. Different from every other Houston bachelorette photo in the feed, which is the point.

8. Spa afternoon at the Houstonian.

Trellis Spa for the group that wants one calm block in the weekend. Book six weeks out for Saturdays.

9. EaDo bar crawl on foot.

Truck Yard, 8th Wonder, Pitch 25. Walkable, patios, no rideshare between stops. Save it for the night everyone is already tired.

10. Private dining in Montrose or the Heights.

A long table at a place with a private room beats a reservation for 14 at a bar. OpenTable’s Houston bachelorette list is the fastest way to filter for rooms.

11. Kayak the bayou with the skyline behind you.

Buffalo Bayou from the water on a cool morning is the Houston photo nobody has. Good as the Sunday-morning reset for the group that still has legs.

12. Matching tees, a theme, and a photographer for one hour.

Last on purpose. The theme is only as good as the place you take it. Put the photographer on the boat at golden hour and the theme pays for itself.

How to put it together

Friday: rooftop, dinner, dueling pianos. Saturday: slow morning, Kemah lunch, the boat at sunset, EaDo after if anyone is standing. Sunday: spa or bayou, then brunch. That weekend costs the group less than a Nashville flight each, and the bride gets the water.

What we get asked every week

How much does a bachelorette boat in Houston cost? Private charters on our barges are $800 to $950 for two hours and up to 26 people, so roughly $31 to $37 per person with a full boat. Weekday dates are cheaper. Public sunset cruises run $59 to $69 a seat if the group is small.

Can we bring our own alcohol? Yes. BYOB is the whole idea. Bring coolers, bring ice, bring the charcuterie board. Guests 21 and up for drinking, and the captain can cut anyone off.

Where is the boat? Seabrook, on Clear Lake, about 35 minutes south of downtown Houston and 15 minutes from Kemah Boardwalk. Rideshare drop-off is easy and parking is free.

How far ahead should we book? Sunset slots on Saturdays in October, November, March and April go three to six weeks out. Weekdays and midday slots are often open the same week.

Is it a pedal boat? The barges are fully motorized with a licensed captain. The pedal stations are there if the group wants them. Nobody has to pedal anything.

What if it rains? Light rain, we go, the boats have roofs. Lightning or high wind, we reschedule or refund. The captain makes the call the morning of.
